Throwback: Iraq and UAE have a long history of (close) encounters. One match full of unforgettable drama just took place during the last World Cup Qualifiers on 12th October 2021. On matchday 4, UAE initially took the lead in the first half, only for Iraq to equalise with an own goal in the 74th minute. That’s when things really kicked off. In the 89th minute, Iraq turned the game around and thought they had won, but in the 93rd minute, Mabkhout scored to level it up once again. Shortly after, UAE even had a great chance to win, but it ended in a 2-2 draw.
